Board members had the opportunity to present Chief Darren Wilson of Lantzville Fire Rescue with his 2024 Allyship Award. Chief Wilson is a committed and outstanding ally for women in the fire service, and through his dedication, we recognize his commitment and support for all of us. Thank you for your service and supporting FSWBC Assistant Chief of Operations, Darren Wilson.
Under the category of Leadership - Trailblazer, FSWBC recognizes Captain Jennifer Dawkins of Vancouver Fire Rescue, for her tireless efforts towards diversity, equity and inclusion, and building a supportive and inclusive fire service that benefits all. Jenn has touched the lives of many in the fire service in BC, Canada and beyond. Thank you for your service to all of us Jenn.
Ceramic Artist, Raku, Murals, Wall Art, Tiles, and Backsplashes
This years awards were hand crafted in raku pottery by artist Ellen Statz. Ellen designed this beautiful piece as a functional tea-light statue and each is one of a kind. We chose this medium because the raku requires the glazed ceramic pieces to be immersed in fire to reveal the true colours of the glaze. This dynamic firing process is what strengthens the artwork.
We are so proud of these awards and so grateful to Ellen for her vision in creating something so unique!
